Web publishing on the UW-Eau Claire Web is done through Lucy, a network web server. Three types of websites make up the UW-Eau Claire Web: department/office, curricular, and student organization sites. These sites are stored on the Lucy server. You can edit your web account from any networked computer on campus, but only if you have permission to do so. For more information on web publishing, refer to The UWEC Web Publishing Process.
These instructions show you how to connect to Lucy in Windows Vista. For information on connecting to other drives, refer to Connecting to Network Drives.
NOTE: University computers will not remember drives mapped from another computer. You must connect to the Lucy network for every computer needing access to it.
In order to access the web server, you must connect to it. In Windows, this is called mapping a network drive.
On the Desktop, click START
» select Computer [Name]
HINT: The title of the Computer [Name] selection will vary depending on which computer you are using.
Windows Explorer launches, displaying your computer's drives, devices, and networks.
On the Command bar, click MAP NETWORK DRIVE![]()
The Map Network Drive dialog box appears.

In the Drive pull-down list, select L:
In the Folder text box, type \\lucy\sitename$
EXAMPLE: Type \\lucy\help$
OPTIONAL: To stay mapped to this drive the next time you login, Reconnect at Logon
Click FINISH
The drive is mapped and ready to be accessed.
The drive opens in Windows Explorer.
