You can enable and disable AutoArchiving on specific folders or on specific items. AutoArchiving can be disabled (but not enabled) universally. Disabling AutoArchiving universally will prevent AutoArchive from running on any folder. Some folders have AutoArchive disabled by default. For more information on AutoArchive defaults, refer to Working with AutoArchive Default Settings.
NOTE: AutoArchiving can be disabled universally, but it must be enabled on a folder-by-folder basis.
From the Tools menu, select Options...
The Options dialog box appears.
Select the Other tab
Click AUTOARCHIVE...
The AutoArchive dialog box appears.

Deselect Run AutoArchive every ... days
AutoArchiving has been disabled for all folders.
Click OK
The AutoArchive dialog box closes.
Click OK
The Options dialog box closes.
AutoArchiving can be enabled for entire folders, or just single items (such as messages).
If AutoArchiving has been universally disabled, the default will be no archiving. In that case, to enable AutoArchiving you will need to create custom settings. If AutoArchiving has not been universally disabled, follow the steps below to enable it.
From the Folder list, right click the appropriate folder » select Properties
The appropriate Properties dialog box appears.
Select the AutoArchive tab
To enable AutoArchiving, select Archive items in this folder using the default settings
HINT: To modify the default settings, refer to Working with AutoArchiving Default Settings.
To disable AutoArchiving, select Do not archive items in this folder
Click OK
The Properties dialog box closes.
Open the message you wish to enable or disable AutoArchiving on
Click the Office button
» select Properties
The Properties dialog box appropriate to your message appears.

Under Options for this item, select or deselect Do not AutoArchive this item
Click OK
The Properties dialog box closes.
