Adobe InDesign CS3

Using InDesign Templates

A template is a document with predefined settings and formatting that can be used to format new documents. For example, you can create a template for a newsletter with the margins, columns, and guides set, and use the same file to create all of your issues.

You can use a template repeatedly for different publications. Each time you open the template, InDesign will open a new document based on the template layout. Changing these documents will not affect the template; therefore, any changes made to the new document will need to be saved as a new file.

  1. From the File menu, select Open...
The Open a File dialog box appears.
