Entourage allows you to send attachments to other individual(s). Attachments allow you to send Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other electronic files for sharing information, reviewing, and editing of content.

The following are etiquette tips for sending attachments. They are general guidelines and can help prevent and solve problems.
Be conscious of the file size: users may be accessing their email via a modem, and large files can take a long time to download. Many users have disk quotas, and large files can quickly take up their available space.
Include the program name and version that you used to create the file
EXAMPLE: Type I have included the report in Word 2007 with this message.
Attachments should not be sent to a listserv unless specifically allowed. Instead, ask people who are interested to request the attachment directly from you.
UW-Eau Claire faculty who share information with students in their classes may want to use the W: drive or Desire to Learn (D2L) instead of sending the file as an attachment. With large classes, this can be a much more efficient use of network and server resources.
UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff who share information with their department colleagues should consider using the department shared S: drive instead of sending the file as an attachment.
To send an attachment with your email message, follow these steps:
Create a new email message

In the body of the message, include a reference to the email attachment with the file name, program, and version it was created in
From the Message toolbar, click ATTACH FILES![]()
The Choose Attachment dialog box appears.

Locate and select the file to be sent
Click OPEN
The document name appears on the Attachments line of your message.
To send the message and attachment, click SEND
In order to open an attachment, you must first open the message that it is attached to. If the Preview Pane is displayed, you can open your attachment from it.
WARNINGS:
If you are unsure of the content of an attachment or you do not know who it is from, do not open it. Many computer viruses travel through email attachments.
If you delete the email message, the attachment will also be deleted.
Open the message

From the Attachments list, select the attachment you would like to open

Click OPEN
A confirmation dialog box appears.
Click OPEN
The attachment opens on the screen.
NOTE: If it does not open, save the attachment and then open it using the appropriate program.
You must save an attachment if you want to make any changes to the file. The following instructions explain how to save attachments in two ways: after opening the file and before opening the file.
Open the message

From the Attachments list, select the attachment you would like to open
Click OPEN
A confirmation dialog box appears.
Click OPEN
The attachment opens in the appropriate program.
Save the file

Open the message

Select the attachment you would like to save
Click SAVE
A confirmation dialog box appears.
Click SAVE
The Save Attachment dialog box appears.
OPTIONAL: In the Save As text box, type the desired name for the file
From the Where pull-down list, select the desired drive and directory to save the file to
Click SAVE
The file is saved.
