Page View Options

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro allows you to magnify parts of a page in a PDF file by zooming in and out or by adjusting the magnification level on the Zoom toolbar. This document shows you how to adjust the magnification of your PDF file and rotate the view.

There are four ways you can change the size that your page appears on the screen.

Adjusting Magnification: The Mouse Scroll Wheel Option

If your mouse has a scroll wheel on it, the quickest method of zooming in or out is by using the keyboard and mouse together.

  1. To zoom in on the page, press [Ctrl] while rolling the mouse wheel forward

  2. To zoom out on the page, press [Ctrl] while rolling the mouse wheel backward

Adjusting Magnification: The Marquee Zoom Tool Option

  1. From the View menu, select Toolbars » Select & Zoom
    The Select & Zoom toolbar appears.

  2. On the Select & Zoom toolbar, click the MARQUEE ZOOM toolMarquee Zoom tool button
    Your cursor changes into the Marquee Zoom tool.

  3. To zoom in on the page,
    1. Place it over the portion of the page you would like to see magnified
    2. Click the mouse button

    3. Continue to click until you reach the desired level of magnification
      NOTES:
      Click on the object or area that you would like magnified to center it in the view.
      To zoom out, press [Ctrl] while clicking.

  4. To zoom in on a specific area so that it fills the viewing area,
    1. Click and drag a rectangle over the area you want magnified
    2. Release the mouse button
      The selected area fills your viewing area

Adjusting Magnification: The Dynamic Zoom Tool Option

  1. From the Tools menu, select Select & Zoom » Dynamic Zoom
    Your cursor changes into the Dynamic Zoom tool.

  2. To zoom in on the page,
    1. Click and drag upward on the page

    2. When you have reached the desired level of magnification, release the mouse button

  3. To zoom out of the page,
    1. Click and drag downward on the page

    2. When you have reached the desired level of magnification, release the mouse button

Adjusting Magnification: The Zoom Button Option

  1. To zoom in on the page, on the Select & Zoom toolbar, click INCREASE THE MAGNIFICATIONIncrease the Magnification button
    OR
    Press [Ctrl] + [+]

  2. To zoom out of the page, on the Select & Zoom toolbar, click DECREASE THE MAGNIFICATIONDecrease the Magnification button
    OR
    Press [Ctrl] + [-]

Adjusting Magnification: The Percentage Option

  1. On the Select & Zoom toolbar, in the Zoom Value text boxZoom Value text box, type a desired number

  2. Press [Enter]
    HINT: You can also select a preset percentage from the Zoom Value pull-down list by clicking on the arrowZoom Value pull-down list arrow.

If the direction of the page is not what you want, you can rotate it to fit your needs.

  1. To rotate the page clockwise, from the View menu, select Rotate View » Clockwise
    OR
    Press [Shift] + [Ctrl] + [+]

  2. To rotate the page counterclockwise, from the View menu, select Rotate View » Counterclockwise
    OR
    Press [Shift] + [Ctrl] + [-]
