In many situations, you will want to copy or move text or graphics within a document or from one document to another. This can be done without retyping all of the information. By using cut, copy, and paste, you can copy or move text and graphics from one document to another.
Material can be moved within a document, between documents in the same application, and between applications. Cut, copy, and paste commands can be used with any Windows application on the same computer.
Material that is copied or cut is placed in a storage area called the Clipboard. Once something is put on the Clipboard, it will remain there until something else is placed there or until the system is turned off. An item on the Clipboard can be pasted multiple times.
Netscape or Internet Explorer: You may want to copy parts of a Web page and paste it into a Word document to cite or to print. You can only copy from Netscape or Internet Explorer, not cut.
Eudora or WebMail: You may want to copy the content of a Word document into Eudora or WebMail to send it as an email message.
Word: If you have a large file that you decide to divide into a number of smaller files, you may want to cut and paste blocks of information into new files.
Once you copy the text or graphics, you can paste within the same document, into a different document, or into a different application.
Select the item (text or graphic) to be copied
From the Edit menu, select Copy
OR
Press [Ctrl]+ [C]
You are now ready to paste.
Once you cut the text or graphics, you can paste within the same document, into a different document, or into a different application.

OR

You can have two or more documents open at once; it is not necessary to close one document each time you want to switch to another.
After you have copied or cut the text or graphic, open the second document
Place your cursor where you want the item to be placed
From the Edit menu, select Paste
OR
Press [Ctrl]+[V]
OPTIONAL: To go back to your original document without closing the new document, follow these steps:
