Working with Survey Results

WebSurvey provides both summary and detail information on the responses to your survey. You can filter responses based on date or question and answer. You can also share the results and specify what can be shared.

You may want to view results prior to the official closing of the survey. This is easy to do with WebSurvey.

NOTE: For surveys with multiple pages, results include responses for incomplete surveys.

  1. From the MySurveys page, for the survey results you want to view, click ANALYZEAnalyze button
    The Survey Results – Overview page appears.
    Additional options as discussed in this document are available with preliminary results.

  2. When done viewing the results, click SURVEYSSurveys buttonor LOGOUTLogout button

When you no longer want to accept responses and want to begin analyzing your data, you will want to close the survey to further responses.

  1. From the MySurveys page, for the survey you want to close, click CLOSEClose button
    Your survey will no longer accept responses.

return to topViewing the Survey Results Overview

The Survey Results – Overview page provides frequencies, percentages, and access to subjective answers. Frequencies provide a count of each response for each question (e.g., 5 yes answers and 15 no answers). Percentages show what portion of the whole these counts represent (e.g., 25% said yes and 75% said no). Subjective answers (where users type their response in a text box) are totaled and can be viewed with the click of a button.

NOTE: For surveys with multiple pages, results include responses for incomplete surveys.

  1. From the MySurveys page, for the survey results you want to view, click ANALYZEAnalyze button
    The Survey Results – Overview page appears.
    Frequencies and percentages for responses to objective questions are given in both numeric and graphical form.

  2. To view subjective answers,
    1. For the appropriate question, click VIEWView button
      Answers are listed one after another.
    2. To return to the Overview page, click RESULTS OVERVIEWResults Overview button

  3. To print the Overview page,
    1. Click PRINT
      The Print dialog box appears.
    2. From the Select Printer pull-down list, select the desired printer
    3. In the Number of copies text box, type the number of desired copies or use the nudge buttons
    4. Click PRINT

  4. To return to the WebSurvey Survey Results – Overview page, click the BACK button on your web browser

return to topViewing Individual Survey Responses

The Individual Responses options allow you to view the responses as if you were reading through a stack of hard-copy responses. Responses to the survey from each individual are shown on separate pages.

  1. From the MySurveys page, for the survey results you want to view, click ANALYZEAnalyze button
    The Survey Results – Overview page appears.

  2. Click INDIVIDUAL RESPONSESIndividual Responses button
    All survey responses from the first respondent are shown.

  3. In the List of Survey Responses section, for the respondent you want to view,
    click VIEW INDIVIDUAL RESULTS FOR THIS SURVEY View individual responses for this survey button
  4. To look at the next respondent’s answers, click MOVE FORWARD ONE SURVEYMove Forward button
    To look at a previous respondent’s answers, click MOVE BACK ONE SURVEYGo Back button
    To view a specific respondent’s answers, in the text box, type the number of the respondent and click GO
    Go to Response text box

  5. To delete all responses from one respondent, on the page for that respondent, click DELETE THIS RESPONSE Delete This Response button
    A confirmation dialog box appears.
    NOTE: This option may be useful if you forgot to clear responses from a testing phase or if a survey was inadvertently submitted twice.
    WARNING:
    Use this option with caution. The entire record for that respondent will be deleted.

  6. Click OK

  7. To return to the Overview page, click RESULTS OVERVIEWResults Overview button
