Windows XP: Using the Document Banner Templates

A document banner has been developed to assist individuals using the wordmark and seal. Many Windows XP users will be able to access the templates with the document banner directly through Microsoft Word. If it is not available, you can download the template from this page.

  1. Open Microsoft Word

  2. From the File menu, select New...

  3. In the New Document task pane, under New from template, select General Templates...

  4. Select the UWEC Templates tab

  5. Select either UWEC Doc Banner or UWEC Doc Banner Header as appropriate

  6. Click OK
    The file will appear on your screen ready for you to begin creating your file.

When downloading the template, it is recommended that you save it to your templates directory. This will give you easier access to the templates. For machines tested, the default location was: 

My Network Places / Entire Network / Microsoft Windows Network / Uwec / software / officexp$ / UWEC Templates

To check your templates location: 

  1. Open Microsoft Word

  2. From the Tools menu, select Options...

  3. Select the File Locations tab

  4. Note the location for User templates
    If the entire location cannot be read, 

    1. To note the full location, click MODIFY...

    2. When done, click CANCEL

  5. Click OK

 

Downloading the Templates: Netscape

  1. Right click the link for the template you want » select Save Link As...
    The Save File dialog box appears.

  2. If necessary, change the location where the file will be saved

  3. If desired, adjust the filename

  4. Click SAVE

Downloading the Templates: Internet Explorer

  1. Right click the link for the template you want » select Save Target As...
    The Save As dialog box appears.

  2. If necessary, change the location where the file will be saved

  3. If desired, adjust the filename

  4. Click SAVE
