Windows XP: Adding the Seal & Wordmark to Word Documents

Once you have saved the image file, it is easy to insert it into your document and adjust the size. When sizing the wordmark or University seal, you must maintain the image proportions.

  1. Open your document

  2. Place your insertion point where you would the graphic to appear

  3. From the Insert menu, select Picture » From File...

  4. If necessary, locate the directory/folder where you saved the graphic

  5. Select the image

  6. Click INSERT
    The graphic is inserted into your document.

Resizing the Image: Using the Mouse

  1. To select the image, click it once
    Black handles will appear around the image.

  2. To resize drag a corner handle out or in
    IMPORTANT: To retain the original proportions you must use the corner handles only.

  3. Release the mouse button

Resizing the Image: Using the Format Menu

  1. To select the image, click it once
    Black handles will appear around the image.

  2. From the Format menu, select Picture...

  3. Select the Size tab

  4. IMPORTANT: To retain the original proportions, in the Scale section, select Lock aspect ratio and Relative to original picture size

  5. In the Size and rotate section, adjust Height or Width
    OR
    In the Scale section adjust Height or Width
    NOTE: Due to the selections made in step 4, you need to adjust only one of these measurements.

  6. Click OK
