The pipe smart text feature in Qualtrics acts much like Mail Merge in Microsoft Word. This feature allows you to insert specific information into question text from several different locations. You can access the Smart Text
option when you see the Rich Text editor, available from any text box.
Using Smart Text, you can pipe questions, answers, or options that your respondents do or do not select. For example, if you are asking students to choose their residence hall, you could pipe the chosen hall into a question about what was liked about that living space.
