Qualtrics offers numerous ways to protect your survey from unsolicited responses. You can limit who has access to your survey by allowing only those with an invitation to take your survey, or you can protect your survey with a password. You can limit the number of times an individual takes your survey by using the Qualtrics' ballot box stuffing prevention capabilities. You can also set up your survey with HTTP referer verification, so only respondents coming from a specific website will be able to take your survey.
You can set up your survey to be by invitation only. Only invitees will be able to take your survey.
WARNING: This option works only with the Individual Link in the Survey Mailer Advanced Options.
RECOMMENDATION: Do not use the By Invitation Only option. For more information on controlling access to your survey, refer to Using the Survey Mailer to Control Access to Your Survey.
From the My Surveys tab, in the Tasks column, for the desired survey, click EDIT![]()
The survey opens on the Edit Survey tab.
Click SURVEY OPTIONS 
The Survey Options dialog box appears.
In the Survey Protection section, select By Invitation Only
The Open Access option is deselected.
Click SAVE CHANGES ![]()
Only desired survey takers will receive an email and be directed to your survey.
You can set up your survey to be protected by a password. Only those to whom you provide the password will be able to take your survey.
From the My Surveys tab, in the Tasks column, for the desired survey, click EDIT![]()
The survey opens on the Edit Survey tab.
Click SURVEY OPTIONS 
The Survey Options dialog box appears.
In
the
Survey Protection section, select Password Protection
NOTES:
The option is selected when a checkmark appears.
The Password Protection text box appears.
In the Password Protection text box, type the password for your survey
Click SAVE CHANGES ![]()
The password is now required for all respondents.
You can use Qualtrics ballot box stuffing prevention option to limit the number of times an individual can take your survey. This limits the number of times your survey can be taken on a particular computer. This is accomplished by placing a cookie on the respondent's computer.
From the My Surveys tab, in the Tasks column, for the desired survey, click EDIT![]()
The survey opens on the Edit Survey tab.
Click SURVEY OPTIONS 
The Survey Options dialog box appears.
In
the Survey Protection section, select Prevent Ballot Box Stuffing
NOTES:
The option is selected when a checkmark appears.
Survey respondents can now take your survey only once per computer.
Click SAVE CHANGES ![]()
Responses will be limited to one per computer.
When a survey is protected by HTTP Referer Verification, only survey respondents coming from a specific website will be able to take your survey.
From the My Surveys tab, in the Tasks column, for the desired survey, click EDIT![]()
The survey opens on the Edit Survey tab.
Click SURVEY OPTIONS 
The Survey Options dialog box appears.

Survey Protection section, select HTTP Referer Verification
NOTES:

The URL text box appears.
In the URL text box, type the URL respondents will have to come from to take your survey
Click SAVE CHANGES ![]()
Only respondents coming from the specified website can now take your survey.
You can set an expiration date for your survey to limit the period of time your survey is available.
From the My Surveys tab, in the Tasks column, for the desired survey, click EDIT![]()
The survey opens on the Edit Survey tab.
Click SURVEY OPTIONS 
The Survey Options dialog box appears.
In the
Survey Protection section, select This survey is valid from
In the Date text boxes, the current date appears.
Select the ending date for your survey
Click SAVE CHANGES ![]()
Your survey will be available during the time frame specified.
