Using the Survey Mailer: Advanced Options

When you are using the Survey Mailer in Qualtrics to distribute your survey, you have access to Advanced Options that will give you the ability to customize your sending options. This document will show you how to access and how to use the Advanced Options.

Advanced Options will give you greater customization ability when it comes to the distribution of your survey. To access these options:

  1. From the My Surveys tab, in the Tasks column, from the desired survey, click SENDSend button

  2. From the Distribute Survey options, click SEND SURVEYSend Survey button

  3. Select the Survey Mailer tab
    The Survey Mailer options appear.

  4. Click ADVANCED OPTIONS
    The Advanced Options dialog box appears.

Once you have accessed the Survey Mailer Advanced Options dialog box, you can now configure the options to your liking. The following describes the available advanced options.

Email Survey Invitation Expiration
The Email Survey Invitation Expiration option gives you the ability to select the number of days the emailed survey link will actively provide access to the survey. This is available only with the Individual Link option.

Test Email
Sending a test email will send the specified individual an email with the survey invitation. This option can be used only in conjunction with a panel, panel sample, individual or email address. It functions similarly to a Cc: in email. You may want to send a test email to yourself so that you know exactly what your participants will be viewing when they see the survey invitation email.

Survey Link Type
The Survey Link Type specifies anonymity and member of responses. For more information, refer to Using the Survey Mailer to Control Access to Your Survey. The available options are as follows:

 

Survey Link Type Description
Individual Link Sends a unique link to each member of the panel. This link type allows participants to complete the survey only once. Responses are not anonymous.
Multiple Completes Per Link Sends a unique link to each member of the panel. This link type allows the participant to complete the survey many times if he/she decides to. Responses are not anonymous.
Anonymous Link This link type gives the participant anonymity as well as multiple access opportunities to complete a survey.

 

Target Response Set

The Target Response Set option gives you the ability to separate results from your survey so that you can compare results from the same survey over a period of time. For example, if you have a class take a course evaluation survey in the middle of the semester then have them take the same survey at the end of the semester, using the Target Response Set option will separate these two survey results so that you can compare and contrast the data. This is available only with the Individual Link option.
