Qualtrics Survey System

Look & Feel Options

After you have created a survey, the Qualtrics Survey System provides ways to format the survey's style. It allows you to customize the fonts, colors, and style of your survey. This option provides template formats that can be applied to any survey. A user can format the headers and footers, the ways to keep track of progress in the survey, and select how many questions a user desires per page. The following features will be explained in this document:

return to topAccessing the Look & Feel Dialog Box

Before you can edit the look and feel of a survey, you must first access the Look & Feel dialog box.

  1. From the My Surveys tab, for the desired survey, click EDITEdit button
    The survey opens on the Edit Survey tab.

  2. Click LOOK & FEEL Look & Feel button
    The Survey Look and Feel dialog box appears.

return to topAdding Headers and Footers

Headers and footers allow information to be added to the survey at the top of each page (header) or the bottom of each page (footer).

  1. Access the Look and Feel dialog box

  2. Select Advanced

  3. To add a header,
    1. From the Advanced tab, in the Header text box, type the desired text
    2. To format the text, click EDIT
      The Header dialog box appears.
    3. Highlight the text and make desired changes
    4. Click SAVE
      You are returned to the Survey Look and Feel dialog box.
    5. Click SAVE
      Your changes have been added.

  4. To add a footer,
    1. From the Advanced tab, in the Footer text box, type the desired text
    2. To format the text, click EDIT
      The Footer dialog box appears.
    3. Highlight the text and make desired changes
    4. Click SAVE
      You are returned to the Survey Look and Feel dialog box.
    5. Click SAVE
      Your changes have been added.

  5. To preview your changes, click PREVIEW SURVEYPreview Survey button

return to topModifying Button Options

The three button options allow you to change the text displayed on the navigation buttons in your survey. Next and Previous allow a user to go forward and back in their survey. The Progress bar displays how much of the survey has been completed.

  1. Access the Look and Feel dialog box

  2. Select General

  3. In the Next Button Text text box, type the text to display on the button
    EXAMPLE: Type NEXT

  4. In the Previous Button Text text box, type the text to display on the button
    EXAMPLE: Type BACK

  5. To display a progress bar to respondents, from the Progress Bar pull-down menu, select a desired option
    NOTES:
    None displays nothing on your survey's progress
    With Text displays 0% to 100% on either side of the progress barWith Text bar
    Without Text
    displays a progress bar with no percentage shownWithout Text bar
    With Verbose Text
    displays 0% to 100% in larger text so that it is more noticeable and titles the progress as Survey CompletionSurvey Completion bar

  6. Click SAVE
    Changes have been made to your survey.

  7. To preview your changes, click PREVIEW SURVEYPreview Survey button

return to topChanging the Appearance of Your Survey

Qualtrics allows you to choose exactly how many questions you would like on each page.

  1. Access the Look and Feel dialog box

  2. Select General

  3. In the Questions Per Page text box, type the number of questions that you want to appear per page

  4. Click SAVE CHANGES Save Changes button
    Changes have been made to your survey.

  5. To preview your changes, click PREVIEW SURVEYPreview Survey button
