Before you can distribute and collect responses from a survey, you must first activate the survey. There are two ways to do this. This document will show you how to activate and deactivate your surveys in Qualtrics.
Activating your survey from the My Surveys tab is simply done with the click of a button.
NOTE:You must create a survey before you can activate it.
Select the My Surveys tab![]()
From the Active column, to the left of the desired survey, click ACTIVATE![]()
NOTE: When successfully activated, the Activate button changes from

The survey is now activated.
Activating your survey right after you have created it can be done simply using the Distribute Survey tab.
Select the Distribute Survey tab![]()
Select the survey you wish to activate
The Survey is Not Active page appears.
Click ACTIVATE YOUR SURVEY TO COLLECT RESPONSES
The survey is now activated.
When you no longer need responses to your survey and would like to deactivate it so that others cannot respond to it, follow these steps:
Select the My Surveys tab![]()
From the Active column, to the left of the desired survey, click DEACTIVATE![]()
The Deactivate Survey dialog box appears.

In the You must enter... text box, type close
Verify that Close all active survey sessions... is selected
NOTE: The option is selected when a checkmark appears in the box next to it.
Click DEACTIVATE SURVEY![]()

The survey is now deactivated.
