Occasionally a user will only receive a portion of or no Clip Art when Office XP is initially installed. In other instances, a user may simply want to use some of the many images available for free on the Web. The following instructions will work for faculty and staff working on their office desktop computers and explains how to import Clip Art from the Web into the Microsoft Clip Organizer. This Clip Art can be accessed and used at any time in the future from the Microsoft Clip Organizer once it is saved. For information on importing Clip Art from the server, refer to Importing Clip Art from the Office XP Server.
From the Insert menu, select Picture » Clip Art...
The Insert Clip Art task pane appears.
Under the See also section, click CLIPS ONLINE
The default web browser will open.
If a Connect to Web dialog box appears, click OK
Click ACCEPT
NOTE: You may find it helpful to read the terms of the Microsoft agreement displayed on the page.
Under the Search section, in the Search for text box, type keywords related to the media you are seeking
From the Search in pull-down menu, select a category to be searched
From the Results should be pull-down menu, select a media type (e.g., clip art, photos, sounds)
From the Order by pull-down menu, select the criteria used to list the media
Click GO
The selections will be displayed to the right of the search options.
Select the check box next to the Clip Art you want to download
Click DOWNLOAD CLIP(S)
The Download screen appears.
Click DOWNLOAD NOW!
The Microsoft Clip Organizer appears with the downloaded clip displayed.
NOTE: When you download Clip Art it is automatically added to the Microsoft Clip Organizer and to a temporary folder called Downloaded Clips on your computer's hard-drive.
Select the Clip Art you downloaded
A pull-down listing will appear.
Select Copy
Return to your document
From the Edit menu, select Paste
The image is inserted.
To close the Microsoft Clip Organizer dialog box, click the X in the upper right hand corner
To close the web browser, click the X in the upper right hand corner
