Using the Check Names Feature

Outlook Webmail's Check Names feature allows you to check the email address(es) of your recipient(s) against the Address Book and Contacts folder before sending an email. This enables you to quickly and easily correct any errors in the email address(es) and remove any addresses that no longer exist.

  1. In the Navigation pane, click MAILMail icon

  2. From the Toolbar, select NewNew icon
    The Untitled Message window appears.

  3. In the To... text box, type the appropriate email address(es)

  4. From the Untitled Message Toolbar, click CHECK NAMESCheck Names icon
    If the address is correct, it will become highlighted and hyperlink to that address.
    If the address is incorrect, an error message will appear, informing you that no match was found or displaying a list of possible matches
    No match was found dialog box

  5. To remove the address(es) from your recipient list, click REMOVE WITHOUT SENDING
    OR
    From the list of possible matches, select the correct address from the list
    NOTE: A separate error message will appear for each erroneous address.

  6. Repeat steps 4 – 5 until your recipient list is error free
