To let you determine its appearance and layout, Microsoft Outlook Webmail offers two color schemes and lets you choose how messages are displayed and read, and choose the language for the Webmail display. This document shows you how to customize Webmail to your specifications.
There are two Webmail color schemes that you can choose between.
On the Outlook Toolbar, click OPTIONS![]()
The Options screen appears.
From the Navigation pane, select General Settings
The screen refreshes to display the General Settings options.
In the Appearance section, in the pull-down list, choose a color scheme
NOTE: The current scheme is at the top of the list.
Click SAVE![]()
NOTE: To see the changes you need to refresh your browser.
Webmail offers flexibility in how messages and Contacts are listed, and also in where the Reading Pane—which lets you see item contents without opening a new window—is positioned.
You can view messages and Contacts on one or two lines. The one line view condenses an item's information, creating space to view more items at once. By using the two line view, however, more space is provided for individual items, allowing you to see more of an item's information without opening it.
NOTES:
A single button is used for both the SINGLE LINE and MULTIPLE LINES views; the button's appearance changes slightly when it is clicked.
The
SINGLE LINE and MULTIPLE LINES button are available only in Mail and Contacts.
From the Toolbar, click SINGLE LINE
or MULTIPLE LINES![]()
Depending on the current view, listed items will change to either a single line or multiple line view.
HINT: In the MULTIPLE LINE view, when you rest your mouse over an email subject, a box appears displaying the full text of the subject. This can be useful for quickly browsing among messages with lengthy subjects.
The reading pane allows you to view messages, Contacts, Tasks, and meetings or appointments without opening them. This option can save you time when browsing through multiple items.
Select the folder for which you want to position the reading pane
On the Toolbar, click SHOW/HIDE READING PANE
» select the desired option
| Icon | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Off | Removes the reading pane | |
| Right | Positions the reading pane to the right side of the screen | |
| Bottom | Positions the reading pane to the bottom of the screen |
