Connecting to VPN Client

VPN (Virtual Private Network) Client software restricts off-campus access to UW-Eau Claire network resources to UW-Eau Claire users while providing a secure, encrypted network connection.

  1. In the Applications folder, double click INTERNET CONNECT
    The Summary dialog box appears.

  2. In the Summary dialog box, click VPN VPN button
    A dialog box appears requiring a VPN connection setup.

  3. In the dialog box, select PPTP

  4. Click CONTINUE
    The Authenticate dialog box appears.VPN Authenticate dialog box

  5. In the Authenticate dialog box, in the Name text box, type the administrator name for your Macintosh

  6. In the Password text box, type the administrator password for your Macintosh

  7. Click OK
    The VPN (PPTP) dialog box appears.

  8. In the VPN (PPTP) dialog box, in the Server address text box, type vpn.uwec.edu

  9. In the Account Name text box, type the administrator name for your Macintosh

  10. In the Password text box, type the administrator password for your Macintosh

  11. OPTIONAL: Select Show VPN status on menu bar

  12. Click CONNECT
    The VPN connection will now be authenticated and you can proceed with mapping your drive.
    NOTES:
    The connection may not work if you have a router that prohibits you from connecting to VPN Client.
    It is recommended that you disconnect from the VPN Client as soon as you are finished using UW-Eau Claire's network resources.
