Connecting to Network Drives

Connecting or mapping to a network drive is a shortcut method for accessing a network connection that is not stored on your system. This gives you access on shared networks to other servers or drives.

return to topShared Network Folders

There are several common shared network drives. Letters shown for Drive are recommended. In most cases, other letters will work. Folders are identified by first the name of the server (e.g., sgs1) and then the name of the share (i.e., the portion allocated to that user group).

NOTE: In the case of student H: drives, the user groups have been divided according to the first letter of the last name, and this determines the server to which they should connect.

Drive Last Name Begins Folder
Student H: Drives A-K smb://sgs1/username$
  L-Z smb://sgs2/username$
Software (J) smb://cass1/software$
DeptDir (W)   smb://cass1/deptdir
Faculty H: Drives   smb://fs1/username$
Department Drives (S)   smb://fs3/depsh$
Specialty Drives (any) smb://fs3/name or
smb://fs3/name$
Web Drives (L)   smb://lucy/acctname$
