Internet Explorer Favorites are used to save sites that you want to visit again.
Open the site you want to mark as a favorite
From the Favorites menu, select Add to Favorites...
The Add Favorite dialog box appears.
OPTIONAL: If you would like to adjust the name, in the Name text box type the new name
NOTE: Favorites are listed alphabetically by the first word of the name.
Click OK
Once you have saved a site as a Favorite, it is easy to visit it whenever you want.
From the Favorites menu, select the desired favorite
On the Standard Buttons toolbar, click FAVORITES
The Favorites list appears on the left side of the window.
From the Favorites panel, click the desired favorite
On the Standard Buttons toolbar, click FAVORITES
The Links pull-down menu is located to the right of the Address bar, and can be used for quick access to sites that you visit frequently. Favorites are added to the Links toolbar by dragging and dropping as described here.
Open the desired page
In the Address bar, click and hold the IE icon
Drag the icon to the Links pull-down menu
Release the mouse button
Open the page containing the link
Within the page click and hold the link
Drag the icon to the Links pull-down menu
Release the mouse button
From the Links pull-down menu, right click the link to be renamed
The Quick menu appears.
From the Quick menu, select Rename
The Rename dialog box appears.
In the New name text box, type the new name of your link

Click OK
From the Links pull-down menu, right click the link to be deleted
The Quick menu appears.
From the Quick menu, select Delete
To confirm, click YES
To cancel, click NO
NOTE: Once an icon is deleted it will be added to the Recycle Bin.
Click CLOSE
Your Favorites are stored as part of your profile on the individual machine. While the location may differ, a common path to locate your Favorites is: C:\WINNT\Profiles\yourusername\Favorites
If you cannot locate the path, you can do a find for Favorites with Windows Explorer.
