What Is Site Management?
Site management involves maintaining the quality of a site at the infrastructure level.
- Short, meaningful file names
- Consistent use of file extensions
- Appropriate folder structure
- Generation of reports to identify and cleanup problems
EXAMPLES: broken links, orphan files, slow pages
FrontPage vs. Windows Explorer
Working with files and folders can be accomplished within FrontPage or by traditional Windows or Macintosh file/folder operations. When adding new files, both options are acceptable. However, when renaming, moving or deleting files and folders, doing so within FrontPage has some critical benefits including:
- When moving or renaming files and folders, all internal site links are automatically updated
- When deleting files, a warning is given if there a link to the file within the site
