You can use Categories to group related Calendar items. Categories can be used to classify different types of events and tasks. This document explains how to create, edit, assign, and change categories.
You may want to create personalized Categories when using Categories to organize your Calendar events and tasks. You can then assign these new categories to all appropriate entries. For more information on how to assign categories to entries, refer to Assigning Categories.
In the Navigation pane, click CALENDAR ![]()

Select an appointment
From the Edit menu, select Categories » Edit Categories
The Categories dialog box appears.
Click CREATE A NEW CATEGORY![]()
An untitled entry appears in the Category list.
Type the name of the category you would like to add
Press [return]
The new category is created.
OPTIONAL: To select a color, click
next to the existing category color » select the desired color

You may want to remove a category when using Categories to organize your Calendar events and tasks
In the Navigation pane, click CALENDAR ![]()

Select an appointment
From the Edit menu, select Categories » Edit Categories
The Categories dialog box appears.

Select the category you would like deleted
Click DELETE
A confirmation dialog box appears.
Click DELETE
Close the Categories dialog box
Once you have created a category, you can change its name and change its color to help organize events on your calendar.
From the Edit menu, select Categories » Edit Categories
The Categories dialog box appears.
Double click the category you would like to rename
The text is highlighted and selected.
Type the desired name
Press [return]
The category name is changes.
Close the Categories dialog box
From the Edit menu, select Categories » Edit Categories
The Categories dialog box appears.
Next to the desired category, from the Color pull-down menu, select the new color
The Category Color is changed.
Close the Categories dialog box
Once you have created Categories, you can assign them to your events and tasks for color coded organization.
In the Navigation pane, click CALENDAR ![]()
Double click the existing task or event you would like to assign a category to
The task/event opens.
Click
next to Categories
The Categories drop down menu appears.
Select the appropriate Category
Close the task/event
A Save Changes dialog box appears.
Click SAVE
The menu option can only be used to a assign categories to existing tasks and events.
Select the task or event you would like to assign a category to
From the Edit menu, select Categories » the desired category
A checkmark appears when the category is selected.
If a current Category is no longer appropriate or if you want to add an additional Category, you can make the appropriate changes at any time.
Select the task or event for which you would like to change the category
From the Edit menu, select Categories » desired category
A checkmark appears when the category is selected.
OPTIONAL: You may select more than one category. If you do so, Entourage uses the most recently selected choice as the display choice.
