When you define a site, it is defined only on that particular computer. For students and other web developers that may not always use the same machine, site definitions can be imported and exported from one computer to another. This eliminates the need to define a site at each new computer.
NOTE: This document assumes you have defined a local and remote site. For more information, refer to Defining Local & Remote Sites.
These steps explain how to export a site definition. Once you have saved the site definition as a site definition file (*.ste), you can import it on a new machine.
From the Site menu, select Manage Sites...
OR
Under the Files tab, from the Site pull-down list, select Manage Sites...
The Manage Sites dialog box appears.

From the scroll list, select the site definition you want to export
Click EXPORT...
The Export Site dialog box appears.

Using the Save in pull-down list, select the desired save location
It is recommended to select a location on your H: drive.
In the File name text box, type the desired file name
From the Save as type pull-down list, verify that Site definition files (*.ste) is selected
Click SAVE
The site definition is exported.
Click DONE
After you have exported your file, you can import it when you use other machines, as long as you still have access to the site definition file (*.ste) location.

Click IMPORT...
The Import Site dialog box appears.
Using the Look in pull-down list, locate and select the desired site definition file
HINT: The file type is .ste.
Click OPEN
The site definition is imported.
Click DONE
These steps explain how to remove a site definition from your list of sites; however, it is important to know that removing a site definition will not remove the site's files from your computer, it will only remove the site definition.

From the scroll list, select the site definition you want to remove
Click REMOVE
A confirmation dialog box appears.

Click YES to delete the site
Click NO to return to the Manage Sites dialog box
Click DONE
