To help your user move between pages within your website, you will need to create links to those pages. These links should be relative links. Relative links do not include the complete URL, only the filename and, if not in the same directory, the path of the file.
When the link is added, the URL should be the file name (and path if appropriate). If you see "file:///," the link will not work for your users.
Select the text that you wish to become the link
In the Properties pane, to the right of the Link text box, click BROWSE FOR FILE![]()
The Select File dialog box appears.

Locate and select the desired file
OR
In the File name text box, type the desired file name
Click OK
Select the text that you want to become the link
In the Properties pane, in the Link text box, type the appropriate path and filename
Press [Enter]
Select the text that you wish to become the link
In the Files pane, adjust the view so you can see the file that you wish to link to
In the Properties pane, to the right of the Link text box, click and hold POINT TO FILE![]()
Drag and point to the file you wish to link to
A line with an arrow appears. When you release the mouse over the desired file, the filename appears in the Link text box.
When the link is added, the URL should be the file name (and path if appropriate). If you see "file:///," the link will not work for your users.
HINT: This option is best used when the text that is to become the link has not yet been inserted.
Position the insertion point where the link is to appear
From the Insert menu, select Hyperlink
OR
In the Insert bar, from the Common tab, click HYPERLINK![]()
The Hyperlink dialog box appears.
In the Text text box, type the text that is to become the link
Click OK
From the Target pull-down list, select the desired option:
blank opens the link in a new window
parent opens the link in a main frameset window
self opens the link in the current frame
top opens the link in the current window
Click OK
The text will appear as a link on the page.
