Using Spellchecker

Desire2Learn's spell checking feature helps correct spelling errors. The spell checker is a helpful tool, but should not be used alone. Always check your text for mistakes the spell checker cannot correct. The spell checker may select words to replace that are not misspelled (e.g., last names, product names, and foreign words). For each word the spell checker questions, you can choose whether to replace it or ignore it. In most areas of Desire2Learn, when you type text, it can be spell checked.

1. Type your text

2. From the Toggle Spellchecker pull-down list, select the appropriate language

3. Click TOGGLE SPELLCHECKER
   Any misspelled or unrecognized words are underlined in red.
   

4. To correct a word, click it
   A Suggestions menu appears.
   

5. Select the appropriate suggestion

6. Repeat steps 4-5 as necessary

7. When you have finished, to turn off Spellchecker, click TOGGLE SPELLCHECKER
   Any underlining that remains is no longer displayed.
