Using Desire2Learn to administer quizzes facilitates easy distribution and grading. You can create several types of quiz questions including long answer, fill in the blank, matching, and multiple choice. You can also customize quiz options to allow special access, permit multiple attempts, and create a report.
This document walks you through the Properties tab of the New Quiz dialog box. Other documents relating to quizzes can be found in the Quiz section of the Desire2Learn Table of Contents.
RECOMMENDATION: Set up the grade items in your gradebook first. This is especially important if you are using a weighted gradebook.
From the My Home page, in the My Eau Claire Courses widget, click the course in which you would like to add a quiz
The Course Home page appears.
From the Course Home page, on the Navigation bar, click QUIZZES
The Manage Quizzes pane appears.
Click NEW QUIZ![]()
The Manage Quizzes-New Quiz pane appears.

On the Properties tab, in the General section, in the Name text box, type the desired quiz name
Click SAVE
NOTE: Categories are used to organize items.
Click SAVE
NOTES:
If you are using a weighted gradebook, it is better to set up the grade items in your gradebook first.
If you have linked the quiz to a grade item and want the quiz grade exported to the gradebook, select allow automatic export to grades

If this option is selected, allow attempt to be set as graded immediately upon completion must also be selected.
Certain types of quiz questions, such as long answer, are not graded immediately.
To allow students to view their grade immediately after the quiz is completed, select allow attempt to be set as graded immediately upon completion

To disable the sending of messages during the quiz, select Disable Pager Access

In the Introduction scroll box, type the desired quiz introduction
NOTE: Introductions are only visible when a student begins the quiz.

In the Page Footer scroll box, type the desired text
NOTE: Page Footers are seen at the bottom of each quiz page.
When the quiz is prepared, at the top of the page, click SAVE QUIZ
To preview the created quiz, click PREVIEW![]()
