The Course Home page is the first page students see when they access your course. When creating the Course Home page, you have a number of options to make it more useful for students. For example, the use and placement of widgets can make a difference in the way information is presented on the Course Home page.
You can create a new Course Home page by following these steps.
From the My Home page, in the My Eau Claire Courses widget » select the desired course
The Course Homepage appears.
On the Navigation bar, click EDIT COURSE
The Course Admin Tools pane appears.
In the Tools section, click HOMEPAGES
The Manage Homepages page appears.
Click NEW HOMEPAGE
The New Homepage pane appears.

In the Name text box, type the name of the new homepage
OPTIONAL: In the Description text box, type a description of the homepage
When finished, click SAVE
The Edit Homepage pane appears.
Continue with Activating and Deactivating Widgets
You can activate, deactivate, and create new widgets according to the needs of your course. For more information refer to Working with Widgets.
From the Edit Homepage pane, select the Content Layout tab

In the area which you want to activate or deactivate a widget, click ADD WIDGET
The Add Widget dialog box appears.
To activate a widget,
from the Available Widgets scroll list, select the desired widget
HINT: A widget is selected when a checkmark appears in the corresponding box
To deactivate a widget,
from the Active Widgets scroll list, deselect the desired widget
HINT: A widget is selected when the corresponding box is empty
To preview the widget, click PREVIEW![]()
A preview of the homepage appears in a new window.
Click SAVE
NOTE: You must save before you move on to another area in order to retain your changes.
Repeat steps 1-6 until your homepage is as desired
OPTIONAL: To change a panel size, click PANEL SIZES![]()
The Panel Sizes dialog box appears.
NOTE: The width of any active, open widget will take precedence over specified column width.
When finished, click SAVE
When finished, to return to the Manage Homepages page, click HOMEPAGES
You must activate a Course Home page before it is visible to users.
From the My Home page, in the My Eau Claire Courses widget » select the desired course
The Course Homepage appears.
On the Navigation bar, click EDIT COURSE
The Course Admin Tools pane appears.
In the Tools section, click HOMEPAGES
The Manage Homepages page appears.

For the homepage you want to activate, in the Active column, click SET
A confirmation dialog box appears.
Click SET ACTIVE
The Course Home page is activated.
NOTE: Current Active appears in the Active column when a homepage is active.
Once a Course Home page has been created, it can be edited to meet the needs of the course.
NOTE: You can not edit the course default homepage.
From the My Home page, in the My Eau Claire Courses widget » select the desired course
The Course Homepage appears.
On the Navigation bar, click EDIT COURSE
The Course Admin Tools pane appears.

In the Name column, click the desired homepage
The Edit Homepage pane appears.
EXAMPLE: Click CLASSIC HORROR LITERATURE.
Make the desired changes
Click SAVE
The Course Home page is modified.
From the My Home page, in the My Eau Claire Courses widget » select the desired course
The Course Homepage appears.
On the Navigation bar, click EDIT COURSE
The Course Admin Tools pane appears.
In the Tools section, click HOMEPAGES
The Manage Homepages pane appears.

In the Name column, click the desired homepage
The Edit Homepage pane appears.
Select the Content/Layout tab
Make the desired changes

To preview, click PREVIEW HOMEPAGE![]()
Deleting a homepage permanently removes it from the course. You should not delete a homepage that is currently active. You cannot delete the default homepage.
From the My Home page, in the My Eau Claire Courses widget » select the desired course
The Course Homepage appears.
On the Navigation bar, click EDIT COURSE
The Course Admin Tools pane appears.
In the Tools section, click HOMEPAGES
The Manage Homepages pane appears.

In the row for the homepage you want to delete, click DELETE HOMEPAGE![]()
A confirmation dialog box appears
Click DELETE
The selected homepage has been deleted.
