Managing Course Content

The Manage Content pane provides a variety of tools for you to use in managing your course content. You can edit the details of each module or topic as well as reorganize them. This document contains information on the following topics:

The Manage Content pane provides tools for modifying the modules and topics of your course. For a description of the various buttons, refer to Content Management Buttons.

  1. From the Course Home page, on the Navigation bar, click CONTENT
    The Manage Content pane appears.

In the Manage Content pane are buttons for common management functions when working with your course content. This table shows the buttons and their functions.

Button Description
Manage Content button Returns you to the Manage Content pane
New Module button Opens the New Module pane, from which you can create a new module
New Topic button Opens the New Topic pane, from which you can create a new topic
Add Multiple Topics button Opens the Add Multiple Topics pane, from which you can create a number of topics at one time
Reorder button Opens the Reorder pane, from which you can adjust the order of modules and topics
Edit Selected button Opens the Edit Selected Items pane for the selected modules and/or topics
Copy Selected Items button Allows you to copy the selected items to another module
Move Selected Items button Allows you to move the selected items to different areas within the content pane
Delete Selected Items button Allows you to delete the selected items
Add Module button Allows you to add a module to the course content or corresponding module
Add Topic button Allows you to add a topic to the corresponding module
Add Multiple Topics button Allows you to add multiple topics to the corresponding module
Reorder button Allows you to reorder the topics of the corresponding module
Edit button Allows you to edit the corresponding topic or module
Jump button Opens the corresponding topic

The modules and topics in your course can be easily rearranged. You can modify either the order of topics and modules or move them to a new parent module.

Moving Modules & Topics: New Order

  1. Access the Manage Content pane

  2. Click REORDERReorder button
    The Reorder pane appears.

  3. To specify the number of places to move an item, in the Sort Order pull-down menu, select the desired placement
    HINT: To expand a module, click EXPANDExpand button

  4. When finished, click SAVE
    The Content Manager pane refreshes to show the new order.

Moving Topics: New Parent Module

  1. Access the Manage Content pane

  2. Select the desired topics
    HINT: A topic is selected if a checkmark appears next to its title.

  3. Click MOVEMove Selected Items button
    The Move Selected Items dialog box appears.

  4. From the New Parent Module pull-down list, select the desired new parent module

  5. Click MOVE
    The Manage Content pane refreshes to show the moved topic(s).

The modules and topics of your course can be easily edited. You are able to edit the titles and content within the Manage Content pane.

Editing Modules & Topics: Title or Short Title

  1. Access the Manage Content pane

  2. In the row that corresponds to the desired topic or module, click EDITEdit Module or Edit Topic button
    The Edit pane appears.

  3. In the appropriate text boxes, make any desired changes to the title or short title

  4. Click SAVE

Editing Topics: Content

You can edit content only in HTML documents.

  1. Access the Manage Content pane

  2. In the row that corresponds to the desired topic or module, click EDITEdit Module or Edit Topic button
    The Edit pane appears.

  3. In the HTML editor, make the desired changes
    HINT: For more info on using the HTML editor, refer to Using HTML Editor.

  4. Click SAVE
