Viewing Options

You can change how the gradebook is organized. You may choose to view all students or students in a particular group. Students can be sorted by their name or according to performance on a given grade item.You may also search the User List for a particular student.

To change the information that is shown for each student or grade item, see Setting Display Options.

You can see what appears for a given student when they view their grades.

  1. From the Course Home page, on the Navigation bar, click GRADES
    The User List pane appears.

  2. Click on a student's name
    The student's grade record appears.

  3. Click PREVIEW
    You see the student's grade record exactly as that student would see it.

If your students are working in groups, you may want to see the grades for members of a certain group.

  1. From the Course Home page, on the Navigation bar, click GRADES
    The User List pane appears.

  2. From the View By pull-down menu, select Groups

  3. Click APPLY
    The Groups pull-down menu appears.

  4. Select a group

  5. Click APPLY
    The User List shows students within the selected group.

To see the grades for all students in your course, not only members of a certain group, you view users. This is the default viewing option.

  1. From the Course Home page, on the Navigation bar, click GRADES
    The User List pane appears.

  2. From the View By pull-down menu, select User

  3. Click APPLY
    The User List shows all users.

Instead of seeing your students' names alphabetically, you may sometimes wish to sort them by their grades on a particular assignment.

  1. From the Course Home page, on the Navigation bar, click GRADES
    The User List pane appears.

  2. Click on the desired item
    The User List will sort users by their scores on the item from lowest to highest.User List pane: sorted by Exam 1

  3. To sort from highest to lowest, click on the item againUser List pane: sorted by Exam 1, high to low

To find a particular student in the User List pane, you can use the Search feature.

  1. In the Search For text box, type part or all of the student's name

  2. Click Search
    Students meeting your criteria will appear in the search results.
