Discussions FAQs

The most common problem with discussions involves the use of an unsupported browser. For the most up-to-date information on recommended browsers, please refer to UW-Madison's Recommended Software and Browsers page.

return to topWhen I click the compose button to post a new discussion message, nothing happens.

Check to see if your pop-up blocker in your browser is on. Add http://uwec.courses.wisconsin.edu to the websites that you allow to have pop-ups or change your settings to allow pop-ups. Visit the Google Support web site to learn more about pop-up blockers.

return to topHow can I alphabetize discussion messages by student last name?

Ask the students to start the subject line of their messages with their last name and then sort the messages by subject.

If you are unable to sort the messages,

  1. In a discussion, click SETTINGS

  2. Under Default Message List View, select Unthreaded View
You will now be able to sort by author, date, or subject.
