The Preferences area allows you to adjust settings for fonts, CD-ROM drives, operating systems, discussions, and viewing options for use with assistive technologies.
In the General Preferences tab, you can choose the Online Status and CD-ROM drive.
From the My Home page, in the My Courses widget, select the desired course
In the My Settings widget, click PREFERENCES
The Preferences pane appears.

Select the General Preferences tab
To change your online status, select Always appear offline
To specify your CD-ROM drive, from the CD-ROM Drive pull-down menu, select the appropriate drive letter
Click SAVE
Your general settings are saved.
The settings on this tab of the Preferences page can make it easier to view content in D2L for those with screen readers or other assistive technology.
From the My Home page, in the My Courses widget, select the desired course
In the My Settings widget, click PREFERENCES
The Preferences pane appears.
Select the Appearance & Accessibility tab
To change the appearance of text, in the Font Settings section, use the pull-down menus to select the desired options
Your changes will be reflected in the Preview box.
To change the way secondary windows appear, in the Dialog Setting section, make the desired selection
NOTE: To understand the implications of each option, read the gray text in the section.
To turn off the HTML Editor, in the HTML Editor Settings section, select Turn off rich text editor and view source
To change how Math is displayed, choose from the selections in the Math Display Setting section.
Click SAVE
Your Appearance & Accessibility settings are saved.
On this tab you can set the first day of the week as displayed on your calendar and choose your time zone..
From the My Home page, in the My Courses widget, select the desired course
In the My Settings widget, click PREFERENCES
The Preferences pane appears.
Select the Language & Region tab
From the First Day of the Week pull-down menu, select the desired day
NOTE: This changes the display on your course calendar only.
Set the time zone using Continent and Time Zone pull-down menus.
Click SAVE
Your Language & Region settings are saved.
The Discussion tab offers a number of options allowing you to control how you view discussions.
From the My Home page, in the My Settings widget, click PREFERENCES
The Preferences pane appears.
Select the Discussions tab

Select the desired options
Click SAVE
Your Discussion settings are saved.
NOTE: For more options when viewing discussions, refer to Discussion Viewing Options.
The Email tab allows you to create a signature which will appear at the end of each email that you send within Desire2Learn.
From the My Home page, in the My Courses widget, select the desired course
In the My Settings widget, click PREFERENCES
The Preferences pane appears.
Select the Email tab

To have a copy of messages you send sent to you, select Send a copy of each outgoing message to [email address]
NOTE: Sent messages do not automatically appear in your Sent Items folder in your UWEC email account. If you want to retain copies of messages you send through D2L, select this option.
In the 'Reply to' Email Address text box, type "NAME" <emailaddress>
EXAMPLE: "John Doe" <doej@uwec.edu>
NOTE: If you do not enter your name, messages you send through D2L will appear in users' inboxes as from your username (e.g., doej@uwec.edu rather than Doe, John), which may be confusing.
In the Email Signature text box, type your signature
NOTE: You have the option of typing in HTML.
Click SAVE
Your signature is saved.
