Conclusion
Erabutoxin b is one of four neurotoxins found in the snake venom of Laticauda semifasciata. It is an all Beta sheet structure containing 5 Beta sheets folded in an anti-parallel fashion. It works by blocking the acetylcholine receptor on motor end plates and causes death specifically by paralyzing the diaphragm. Sea snake venom is much more toxic than terrestrial due to the amount of neurotoxins present in the venom. Study of sea snake venom is very important for treatment of sea snake bites, as well as treatment of nueromuscular problems and neurological illnesses.
