BATHYMETRIC MAP --- The Pine Lake
Bathymetric Map was completed in 2000 as a UWEC Faculty / Student Research
Colaboration project with Biology students Colm O'Carroll and Brian Fuller.
Pine Lake is the site of UW-Eau Claire's Lake Field Station, and this deep
glacial lake served as a test-site for the 'GameBoy' mapping methodology.
With finger-intensive data entry, over 9,000 lat/long/depth positions were
recorded throughout the lake. The detailed depth data yields a richly detailed
map of lake structure with sub-meter accuracy. |
