9-12 Probability Standards
(Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics, 171)
Goals of probability curriculum at the 9-12 grade levels are that students will:
Standard 1: "use experimetnal or theoretical probability, as appropriate, to represent and solve problems involving uncertainty;" Related Activities
Standard 2: "use simulations to estimate probalities;" Related Activities
Standard 3: "understand the concept of a random variable;" Related Activities
Standard 4: "create and interpret discrete probability distributions;" Related Activities
Standard 5: "describe, in general terms, the normal curve and us its properties to answer questions about sets of data that are assumed to be noramally distributed;" Related Activities
and so that, in addition, college-intending students can--
Standard 6: "apply the concept of a random variable to generate and interpret probability distributions including binomial, uniform, normal, and chi-square." Related Activities
