5-8 Probability Standards
(Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics, 109)
Goals of probability curriculum at the 5-8 grade levels are that students will:
Standard 1: "model situations by devising and carrying out experiments or simulations to determine probabilities;" Related Activities
Standard 2: "model situations by constructing a sample space to determine probabilities;" Related Activities
Standard 3: "appreciate the power of using a probability model by comparing experimental results with mathematical expectations;" Related Activities
Standard 4: "make predictions that are based on experimental or theoretical probabilities;" Related Activities
Standard 5: "develop an appreciation for the pervasive use of probability in the real world." Related Activities
