Get to know the board:

Darian: Darian Parker is a Liberal Studies major in Film, Multimedia, and Music. Parker is from Superior, Wisconsin and in his 4th year at UWEC. Parker has been in the choir all 4 years of his time at UWEC and has served as Internal Ministries Chair and President.

Kateri: Kateri Farrell is a junior at UWEC earning a B.A. in Music Liberal Arts. She has been involved in several music ensembles. She is studying flute and has performed with UWEC Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble II, and has sung with Jazz Ensemble I. Outside of school, Farrell is a member of the Michael Rambo Project as well as various Jazz Combos. This is her third year in the UWEC Gospel Choir.

Kate: Hello, I'm Kate! This is my first semester as Gospel Choir's President, although I have been involved in the choir since my Freshman year. I love Gospel Choir not only because of the music we sing, but all of the people that show up each week. Through singing, worshiping, and social events I have found a family in Gospel Choir! I would have to say that my favorite gospel songs would include Turn It Around by Israel Houghton and Hold Me Now by Kirk Franklin.

Anna: Anna is a junior at UWEC studying Spanish and Art & Design, with a minor in Latin American Studies. She joined the choir as a freshman and ever since has loved the welcoming family that is the Gospel Choir and the fun they have singing praises to God. She also enjoys running, baking, yelling in Spanish, crocheting, and playing games, such as online chess with her brothers.

Kristen: Hi! I'm Kristen.

Mike: Okay, so I'm Mike and I'm the internal ministries person in Gospel Choir. What's that you ask? In a nutshell; I keep the God in Gospel Choir. Cool, huh? I'm a creative writing major so I like to read and write. I probably wouldn't be one if I didn't though. I like to sing. I also like nature. Nature is cool. So are bow ties. I'm a nerd. I like talking to people so please don't be intimidated by the tattoo or large body type and possibly shaven head. I've been told I'm actually pretty nice. If your thinking about trying Gospel Choir, do it! It's a lot of fun, we sing great music, and it's a great way to praise God.

Kevin: Hi, I'm Kevin, and when I am not paling tuba or reading a book, I love to sing with Gospel choir! I love Gospel choir because it is the first place I have found where it didn't matter how good or bad my singing was, all that mattered was that I wanted to sing about God.

Dr. Taylor: Dr. Taylor founded the UW-Eau Claire Gospel Choir in 1988 and he continues to perform in and serve as its advisor.  He is the founder of the UWEC Music Therapy program, creator of the Biomedical Theory of Music Therapy, author and publisher of Biomedical Foundations of Music as Therapy, Chair of the Wisconsin Board on Aging and Long Term Care, member of the International Relations Committee of the American Music Therapy Association, past Commodore of the Lake Wissota Yacht Club, former Editor of the International Journal of Arts Medicine, and composer/performer of a music cd entitled Whispers of Life. He has performed with the Wisconsin Opera Company, the Madison Theatre Guild, the UW-Madison Dance Theatre, the Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild, and the University of Kansas Opera Workshop and Dance Theatre while earning his bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees. He and his wife Jennifer enjoy skiing, sailboat racing, and teaching swing and ballroom dancing.
