Eau
Claire was growing in population during the 1960s. New structure had
to be built to to accommodate all of the people. The university also
made a name for itself. The University was renamed using Wisconsin
as part of the title.
| 1960 | The original building known as "Old Main" at the University was renamed Schofied Hall. |
| 1960 | Eau Claire had 178 miles of streets, which increased to 278 miles by 1987. |
| 1962 | A new post office was constructed on North Barstow Street and the 1909 structure on 500 S. Barstow Street was vacated. |
| 1962 | The Eau Claire High School, at 314 Doty Street, was renamed Central Junior High School. |
| 1963 | The C & NW discontinued all train passenger service to Eau Claire -- the last line serving the city. |
| 1963 | Chippewa Valley Technical College was opened. |
| 1964 | Wisconsin State Colleges was renamed the Wisconsin State University-Eau Claire. |
| 1964 | Sunnyview School, that is currently part of the Chippewa Valley Museum, was moved from its original location in the town of Washington. |
| 1966 | Gillette Safety Tire Company named was changed to Uniroyal. |
| 1967 | A severe flood led to the Flood Disaster Protection Act of 1973. |
| 1967 | University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire School of Nursing developed after the closing of Luther Hospital School of Nursing. |
| 1968 | A community plan was incorporated. |
