Eau Claire: Percent of Whites and Minorities
|
||
|
As we look at the
white demographic map we can see that a higher
percentage (59-71%)of recently moved persons are located in
Northside Hill &
Northside River Fronts, Central Business District (CBD), the
University Area and Randall Park and the Westside as well as the
track to the east of Putnam Heights outlined by Hastings Way, Hwy 94
and Fairfax St. For the Randall Park, Westside, the University
Area, CBD, Northside Hill and River Fronts neighborhoods this is due
to the large number of apartments allowing for a constant change of
inhabitants. This is especially evident in the Randall Park and
University Areas with the change of university students. As for the
region east of Putnam Heights this influx of inhabitants is due to a
recent increase in homes in the area.
You can also see that very few people (< 34%) have moved into Putnam Heights and the Town of Brunswick. In the Putnam Heights Neighborhood many of the homes were built in the 60's and 70's and many of the owners have stayed in the area with little new inhabitants in the past decade. The Town of Brunswick is in the country and many of the homes are owned by farmers and they have stayed in that area for the past decade as well to maintain their farmland

Over 91% of the minorities that have moved into the Central Business District (CBD) and the area south of Putnam Heights have moved there in the past 10 years. In fact in CBD 100% of the minorities living there have moved in in the past 10 years. This is likely due to the large amount of apartments in this area and the fact that minorities and people of the same ethnicity like to live in the same area.
There are very few minorities (< 40%) that have moved into the University Area, 3rd Ward and Putnam Heights in the past 10 years. In the University Area this is because there are few minorities that attend the university and live in this area. In the 3rd Ward there are few minorities because this area is made up of professionals and few minorities are professionals. As for the Putnam Heights area many of these homes were built in the 60's and 70's and many of the owners have stayed in the area with little new inhabitants in the past decade.
