Just south of the Chippewa River, there is an area that has about 45 percent of the families earning below $20,000 annually.  Areas like the Student Ghetto, east of CBD, and south of Dell's Pond have between 23 percent and 33 percent below $20,000.  The CBD and the area north of the Eau Claire River have around 11 to 22 percent of families bringing in less than $20,000.  Mainly of these people are of the lower end of the working class.  These people probably work at McDonald's and other minimum wage places.

The Exurban and Third Ward areas contain 30 percent of families having a yearly income of higher than $100,000.  An area south of the Eau Claire River also contains 30 percent.  Putnam Heights has a percentage of 20 to 30 percent of the families earning over $100,000.  Many of these people are professionals such as doctors and professors.
