Be sure to follow the particular instructions for the assignment you are working on. This page only explains how to use this mapping software, not how to do any assignment which requires ArcExplorer! When you open ArcExplorer, this is the first menu you will see:_______________________________________________________________________________________________ Now click on the red cross symbol (

drive, then the folders geog, Vogeler, Geog 111, and
ArcExplorer. |
Finally, select the appropriate folder, in this
case ARCWORLD. Notice that a shapefile
appears in the right-hand column. This is what you should see, for example: |

Now it is time to get the data and start maping it. Double click onNEWWORLD or NEWWORLD, and another menu will appear, which looks like this: ![]() |
Under the Symbols tap and in the Draw features using category, select Graduated Symbols. From the Field box, select the variable you want to map. Be sure you really know what the truncated variables names mean before you select and map them. |

Before you print your map, be sure to change the default variable name, by selecting the General tab and replacing the default text with the variable name that you actualy mapped! Important: I have not found a way to add a title for the overall map in this newest version of this software. Add it by pasting your map into a Paint progam and add the necessary text!
