Stone and Reddish Brick Veneer Foundations

Brick is used to cover the underlying foundation materials.  When old houses are re-modeled not only walls, but also foundations are covered with new materials.  Houses built in the 1920s-1930s frequently used brick as veneer on concrete or cement block foundations.

The graph shows that reddish bricks were particularly popular in the 1920s, when 40 percent of the reddish bricks as veneer were used.
