Where
would you expect to find the greatest concentration of stone foundations
in the city?
Why do think the greatest concentration is in these areas?
Stone
foundations are found in the oldest sections of the city: Randall Park,
Third Ward, and North River Fronts. These areas of Eau Claire were settled
in the mid to late 1800s when stone was the only available material strong
enough for the foundation, since cement was not in great use at this time.
