The use of stucco as wall covering material is very pronounced -- almost
40% of all stucco houses were built in the 1920s! And the majority
were built from 1910 to1959, making them a very good diagnostic material for dating
houses. Even though stucco is most associated with Mediterranean style
houses during the 1920-1930s, it was used to update older homes.
Sometimes,
stucco was used to look like cutstone. Also note the glass blocks that
were popular in the 1920s-1930s.
A mapof stucco houses would
show a high
concentration in the
Third Ward.
