Eau Claire: 1990

The city of Eau Claire continued to grow residentially and commercially.  Industrial expansion has become an attractive endeavor for new companies looking for access to US Hwy 94 and US Hwy 53.
1990 The greatest expansion residentially will occur along County Highway EE and west of  TT on US Hwy 53 NE of Robin Rd. as projected by the 1990 City Comprehensive Plan.
1991 Uniroyal tire company closed on 26 June 1991 after 76 years as the city's largest employer (1,358 at the time of closing). Over 5 million tires, which would circle the world seven times, were made in the plant.
1992 The North Crossing was built to facilitate travel between US Hwy 53 and US Hwy 94 and alleviate travel along Madison and Birch Streets.
1995 The Oakwood Mall area became the largest growing commercial district in the city.
1995 Uniroyal building was redeveloped into a major commercial marketplace called Banbury Place.
1995 Largest projected growth and development area for single parent families was located south of Golf Road along US Hwy 93.
1995 Industrial and warehouse development exploded along Melby Road.
1997 There are currently 200 industrial acres available for building and future expansion in Eau Claire.
1997 There are currently five major industrial parks occupying Eau Claire and the surrounding area.
1997 Gateway West was the newest industrial park in Eau Claire with a total of 228 acres and projected increase to 600 acres by the year 2010.
