Eau Claire:

Language Spoken At Home,

By Age

The following maps show the contrast between the Hmong-speaking and English-speaking populations by age. The Hmong population is clearly concentrated in the working class districts of the North Riverfronts, Northside Hill and the CBD. The data for these maps was taken from the U.S. 2000 Census, which splits this data into two categories: Ages 5-17 and Ages 18+.

Age 5-17: English Spoken at Home

Age 5-17: Hmong Spoken at Home

This map is the reverse of the one above. The only place that people don't speak English while they are at home is in the area where Hmong is spoken.

The houses in this area are among the oldest in Eau Claire. They date from the 1850's to the 1890's.

House values vary  from inexpensive to very expensive.
