Barre, Vermont, is the self-proclaimed granite capital of the world. Its Hope Cemetery is world famous for the wonderful stone carved monuments. Only memorials made of Barre Gray are permitted in the cemetery. More granite gravestones are still produced here than anywhere else in the USA.
