Villages outside of Bangalore
in the State of Karnataka. Dr. Gopal Karanth,
Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore, took
us to the village he studied in the 1960s.(In the third photo, he is the
white-haired man on the extreme right). Photos show a village street, outside
and inside houses, storage containers (old pottery and new plastic), washing
cloths, shops, floor mill, shoe repair, cattle, traditional cart, and health
campaign posters.
Other villages visited on the way back to Bangalore: brick making,
individual Hind grave marker, raising silk worms, catching a bus to town,
carrying home milk, and a milk collection station.
