Cochin: Transport modes -- only a small sample of the kinds of transport vehicles used in India. White Ambassador tourist taxis (Indian made) are available at hotels and at taxi stands, with posted rates. Indians use "autos" as in auto rickshaws for a fraction of  taxi rates. Hired drivers and guides are very affordable for foreign tourists and a care-free way of getting around the busy and congested streets. Bikes and motor cycles are very common for everybody.
