Cochin: Syrian Catholic church, with its distinctive cross, claims its origin from the arrival of St. Thomas the Apostle in Cranganore in 52 AD. The brass pole has been incorporated from Hindu temples. The adjacent cemetery has lots of crosses as is common among Catholic cemeteries world wide, yet the use of scattered flowers on graves is very Indian.
