LCO Coordinator
I am from the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribe in Hayward, WI and spent the majority of my upbringing there. I became a mom two days after my high school graduation but still wanted to continue my education. With perseverance and a goal I graduated from Lac Courte Oreilles Community College with an Associates Degree and went on to receive a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin – Superior. I was married in 2006. My husband, Jesse, and my son, Hunter, continue to be an inspiration to me.
For the last two years I have worked for the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribe in Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse. My experience in Mental Health/AODA continued to show how important believing in yourself and your future is.
My work experience and my journey through education showed me the potential of opportunities. My passion has always been to work with Native youth and to nurture their strengths. The Gear Up Program gives youth and their families encouragement and opportunities to plan for higher education. Higher education opens the doors of opportunity and shows you that you are capable and able to accomplish your goals.
